CNET (via Engadget) reports that Toshiba will not show its SED TV at the CES 2007 in January.
We reported about the SED (Surface-conduction Electron-emitter Display) TV technology that Toshiba develops together with Canon in early 2005. SED promises 100,000:1 contrast ratio.
SED TVs are supposed to ship in late 2007. If the no-show at the CES delays the release is not clear.
This would set the stage for Laser TV to be the only new TV technology at the CES, if they show up. I searched the CES exhibitor list for Laser TV and Arasor, but nothing hits. Mitsubishi will be there, but there is no indication that they would show a Laser TV.
The delay is apparently related to an ongoing lawsuit between Canon and Nano-Proprietary about some licensed technology related to SED.
Get a Plasma TV now, before it is outdated.
