Japanese Ubukata Industries Co. developed an alarm that warns your in case of fire or earthquakes.
The compact smoke detector houses also a sensor for earthquakes with magnitudes of 5 or higher.
With a price of 14,700 yen (~$124) this alarm does not come cheap. I just bought a smoke detector for my home for $7.
This alarm also has built-in lighting in case of power failure during an emergency.
More details on the Ubukata site (Japanese). Via Nikkei (Subscription).
