OCZ is today launching their own line of graphics cards starting from the top of NVIDIA’s lineup with the 8800 GTX. This is the only card OCZ will offer at this point, but I would expect to see other cards with the OCZ brand soon.
I was expecting a graphics card from OCZ known for overclocking parts to be clocked higher than reference speeds, but it seems for their first round OCZ went stock. The core is clocked at 575 MHz and the memory is clocked at 1800 MHz and the OCZ 8800 GTX has the same specs as the other reference clocked cards from other NVIDIA partners. With OCZ launching their own line of graphics cards we can now build most of our computers with OCZ parts. I can’t help but wonder when we will see an OCZ branded mainboard in the form of the NVIDIA designed 680i. After all, that is how BFG and EVGA got into the mainboard business. Perhaps we will see the OCZ version once the bios issues are fixed on the 680i boards out currently. No pricing information is currently available, but I would expect it to come in at virtually the same price as the other reference cards on the market currently.
