The hot new Laser TV technology that is supposed to be the next big thing has made an appearance on TV before Christmas. I totally missed it because of the holiday shopping craziness.
Laser company Coherent demonstrated a Laser TV prototype and the footage was shown on Kron 4 a San Francisco Bay Area TV channel.
Coherent was in the news just a couple days ago, because German based lighting giant Osram licensed Laser TV technology from Coherent.
We first reported about Laser TV, when Mitsubishi said they would bring a Laser TV to the market in 2007. Then in October, Arasor, a startup that is also based in the Silicon Valley showed a Laser TV prototype in Australia.
In the video about the Coherent Laser TV the say that commercial availability is to be expected in about 18 month. If there is not a big surprise, I think 2007 will pass and no Laser TV will be on the market. But maybe there is a big Laser TV splash at the CES 2007 that will make us believe again that Laser TV will be in shops this year.
Laser TVs promise us the most colors, fastest picture, longevity without fading at Plasma TV shape and prices.
You can see the Laser TV video on the Coherent site.
