Will Joost be the new moniker for online video as Youtube? Formerly known as The Venice Project, Joost tries to combine the best of TV and the best of the Internet by offering viewers a unique, TV-like experience enhanced with the choice, control and flexibility of Web 2.0.
The Skype founders Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis developed a secure, efficient, piracy-proof Internet platform that enables premium interactive video experiences while guaranteeing copyright protection for content owners and creators. At least that is what their press-release says it is.
Joost is still in private beta testing. You can sign-up to be a beta tester on the Joost site.
