Robots are entering the battlefield to help make the men and women of our armed forces safer when they are in harms way. The latest robot is called the RedOwl and it is designed to pinpoint the location of enemy snipers from up to a mile away by analyzing the sound of the gunshot.

A really cool part about the robot is that it is controlled by a modified Xbox controller. I can’t help but wonder when gaming will be part of basic training. Supposedly the robot will be ready for use in combat zones this spring.
The cost for this robotic gadget is a reasonably cheap $150,000, reasonably cheap when you consider this is the army that pays $5000 for toilet seats. I guess the use of modified Xbox controllers means that the many soldiers that game will be much more familiar with the control layout. Story and image via Sci Fi Tech
