If you like the idea of a Camcorder that records to a HDD but don’t like the idea of having to use your PC each time you want to move your video to a disk you JVC has your remedy. Their Everio line of HDD camcorders now has the ability to write directly to DVD via a new CU-VD20 DVD writer.
You can use the burner to write the entire contents of the hard drive or specific clips direct to DVD without the use of the PC. You can also use the DVD burner to watch DVDs so long as it is connected to the camcorder. The only Everio camcorders not supported by the burner are the HD models. Availability is set for February in Japan and it seems this particular model isn’t coming to the states. However, US owners can get the CU-VD10US that runs the same price as the CU-VD20 of right at $200. Story and image via Sci Fi Tech.
