When I was a child, I recall every time we went to the mall my brother and I went to the gift shop to play with the plasma globe. It was so cool to touch the globe and see the electricity follow your hands. I also remembering begging for one each time we went, but back then they were well over $100.
Now we have the Plasma Light Bulb that is the same thing on a smaller scale. You screw it into a standard light fixture and you are ready to watch the light show. I would expect that the device is more aimed at lamp use rather than in an overhead light unless you just don’t. The good news if you always wanted one of these things is that the Plasma Bulb sells for $10. I wonder if you put ten or fifteen of these in the same room if your hair would stand up.
