Do’h! Seems that Lenovo is following in the missteps…ummm…footsteps of Dell with the issue of their very own battery recall for potential fire hazard. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission and Lenovo are issuing a recall on notebook battery packs.
About 100,000 Lenovo battery packs are covered in the recall here in the States with an additional 105,000 sold worldwide. Lenovo is saying that he hazard is that the batteries could overheat and pose a fire hazard if they were dropped on a corner. Lenovo points out that this is not an internal cell defect in their batteries. It seems Lenovo has received four reports of batteries over heating and causing minor eye irritation to one user and minor property damage for another. I guess it could be worse, they could have had a fiery explosion in front of cameras like Dell did. Check here for more information on the Lenovo battery recall.
