The biggest passenger airplane is heading for the United States. One is coming from Frankfurt and will land at JFK airport in New York and Chicago. Another A380 has left France and is landing at LAX airport on the west coast.
Airbus and A380 launch customer Lufthansa are en route today to land for the first time the A380 in the United States. The whole operation is called commercial route proving. On board are over 500 passengers consisting mostly of Airbus and Lufthansa employees.
The A380 is impressive to see in low altitude. I saw it couple month ago during test flight near Munich. It is really huge. How can this thing fly? Must be magic.
If you are interested in the details, Airbus has a nicely designed micro site about the route proving flight of the A380 with lots of infos.
The Airbus 380 had its first flight back in April of 2005. Many delays happened since then and Airbus is in trouble for it quite a bit. They are working hard to turn things around, something that is generally known as lay-offs.
