Bandai Visual announces the cult anime movie AKIRA on Blu-ray in Japan.

The AKIRA Blu-ray movie is going to be released on July 27th for 10,290 Yen (~$87). This is a pretty steep price. You get a remastered DVD with the Blu-ray version of AKIRA, but that still does not rectify the $87. We will see what the HD AKIRA movie will cost at the end when it will be available for instance on Yes Asia.

Bandai Visual also announced several other anime movies on Blu-ray but also on HD DVD.

Amongst them are other classics like GHOST IN THE SHELL or Steam Boy.
