Opera, the company behind the Nintendo Wii browser informs that the final version of the web browser for the Wii is going to be released in April and not this month.
To browser the web on the Wii already worked great for me. The final version will have several improvements though based on user feedback.
The improvements include improved zooming and scrolling, faster startup times and 'www' or '.com' shortcuts.
The Wii browser beta version was made available in late December 2006.
The Wii browser is still free for download until June. Nintendo might move this deadline back, because of the delay.
Nintendo wants to charge 500 points in the future for the browser. I still find this a bad idea, even if it is just $5. Browsing is a core feature and not only is the free web access based on the browser, but also the news and weather channel need the browser to work for instance. So why charge for it?
