Yesterday Sony issued a new firmware update for the PSP. In addition to adding new video resolutions of 720 x 480, 352 x 480, and 480 x 272 for MPEG-4 AVA H.264 video and improving PSone performance they threw in a little something extra.
The firmware also includes six months of free access to T-Mobile’s WiFi Hotspot network. To connect to the hotspots all you have to do is set up a new connection while in range. An icon appears allowing you to start your free trial. The coolest part is that no credit card is required and even if you forget about the free service they won’t charge you a dime after the trial expires. Sure you might get hooked on the service after your free period, but hey that’s the price of free WiFi. Story and image via Engadget.
