Just when the e-book market looks very gloom (see recent story on CNet), Sony and 15 other companies form a Joint Venture developing electronic publishing service.
The new company, Publishing Link Ltd., will distribute book content over the Internet and Sony will sell the hardware used to read the content. The service is to start in spring 2004.
Under the plan, members will be able to download content and read it using personal computers and the Sony manufactured e-book players for a two-month period for each book.
