The kicks to the balls just keep coming for Sony with Acer now announced a full recall of 27,000 notebook batteries that were manufactured by Sony because they tend to blow up with too much regularity.
Acer and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the voluntary recall program today. Acer says that any owner of an affected battery should stop using it immediately, or at least have bag of marshmallows and graham crackers close by so they can make smores out of a battery explosion at the least.
Naturally a free replacement battery is being offered. Acer points out that none of the 16 reports of Sony made batteries exploding were in Acer products. The lithium-ion batteries with the part numbers and week codes covered in the press release are subject to the recall.
