Mercedes-Benz revealed today a roadster version of its amazing SLR McLaren sports car.
The SLR McLaren Roadster features a fully retractable top and promises undiluted open-air driving pleasure in the highest performance class without compromising the comfort. Mercedes Benz says you still can have a conversation at well over 200 km/h on open-air journeys thanks to the favorable aero acoustics.
Mercedes-Benz put an AMG V8 supercharged engine into the SLR McLaren Roadster delivering 460 kW/626 PS. The top speed is 332 km/h (~206.3mph).
Excluding the two aluminum engine frames, the SLR McLaren's body is made entirely of carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) materials.
I have seen a SLR McLaren at a beer garden parking lot a couple months ago. This car is just not from this world. The convertible option is making the car even more desirable.
The new Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster, like the coupé, will be built at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, England and will be available from September 2007. Pricing of the Roadster is not announced yet. The McLaren Coupe already costs 452,200 Euro (~$613,389). I do not expect the convertible to be more affordable.
