A study by a 17-year-old high school student showed electrical interference in 50% of the cases when the iPod was held just 2 inches from the patient's chest for 5 to 10 seconds.
The study was examining 100 patients with an average age of 77.
The 17 year old student held the study at the Thoracic and Cardiovascular Institute at Michigan State University.
The issue has to be studied further as most pacemaker patients are not iPod users.
