Sanyo is expected to release a follow-up model to its Sanyo PLV-Z5 projector later this year.

Rumored specifications include 14,000:1 contrast ratio, which would be 4,000 more than the Z5 currently has. A posting on a German discussion board suggests that the PLV-Z6 might go full HD with 1920x1080p resolution. I am not convinced of that though. The projector would have to be priced much higher and is not fitting into Sanyo's Z line.
Sanyo could of course introduce a high-end home cinema projector line with 1080p support.
Release date rumors range from July to November 2007.
