Not too long ago I wrote about the Shelby Super Snake, now we are getting some more info about the 2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR courtesy of Motor Trend. Ford is bringing back a circ 1968 name plate that is still to this day one of the most sought after Mustang’s ever.
Rumor has it that the 2008 GT500KR will be a hot enough pony to give the Corvette Z06 heartburn. The KR starts off as a GT500 that gets a new cold-air intake and a Ford Racing low-restriction exhaust. While there are no firm figures at this time, power is in the range of 540hp and 510 ft-lb of torque according to SVT Engineers.
Other changes include stiffer springs and suspension, thicker anti-roll bars and a strut tower brace. Unlike the show car in thee photos, production GT500KR’s will ride on 18 inch shoes. Only 1000 of these 2008 Ford GT500KR’s will be built and the price is expected to be in the mid-$65k range. Those that already own a GT500 can upgrade to the KR form via bolt on parts. 0-60 time is estimated at 4 seconds. Via Motor Trend
