Early today we reported about Toshiba to delay SED TVs. Here is another display technology Toshiba is involved in called OCB.
OCB stands for Optically Compensated Bend and is pioneered by Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology Corporation (TMD).
The company has developed a 4.3-inch transflective liquid crystal display (LCD) prototype panel that combines optically compensated bend (OCB) technology, which offers both a wide viewing angle and a fast response time, and transflective technology, which assures high viewability in outdoor sunlight environments. The combination is a first of its kind in the LCD industry.
The use for OCB Displays can be in cars for instance. The display also works at very low temperatures.
TMD showed the OCB Display at the SID 2007.
More details on the TMDisplay site. Via Heise (German).
