Toshiba announces the Gigabeat V401 and Gigabeat V801 portable media player.

The Toshiba Gigabeat V801 has a 80GB HDD and the V401 comes with a 40GB hard-drive. Both new Toshiba Gigabeat players feature a 4 inch QVGA color screen.
With the new H2C technology the sound is supposed to be improved by adding back frequencies that are lost during compression of WMA and MP3 files.
The new Toshiba Gigabeat V-series players support WMA, WMA 9 lossless, MP3 and Wav audio formats as well as hte WMV video format.
Measurements of the V401 are 124.5x75.5x18mm and the V801 is 6mm thicker.
Both new Toshiba Gigabeat PMPs will start shipping on June 1st in Japan.
