Samsung SDI shows a 2.2 inch AMOLED display which is only .52mm thin.
AMOLED stands for Active-Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode. 0.52mm is about as thin as a business card. Pretty cool - nearly as cool as the new Sony flexible OLED display.
The ultra-thin 2.2 inch AMOLED display has a QVGA resolution and seems to be very bright. Samsung SDI also showed other AMOLED displays with different resolutions like 400x240px at the SID 2007.
Samsung is also making larger AMOLED displays. In October 2006 the company showed a 17 inch AMOLED display that was also very thin with 1.8mm.
With a thin display like that we will see mobile phones that will be much thinner than the new RAZR2 that Motorola just released. Samsung might soon have another range of ultra-thin phones coming.
