LG announced today that they have launched their new Super Multi Security drive in the UK. This LG DVD/CD writer is the first to use SecureDisc technology available exclusively from Nero and HL Data Storage.
SecureDisc allows users to write data to discs layered with security as the data is burned. Passwords and encryption are applied to the data as it is laid to the disc during the burn process.
This means that as soon as the data is placed on the disc, it is secure. Passwords require a minimum of 16 characters in length. Each disc is encrypted with a unique ID to assure the disc recipient of the authenticity of the data on the disc. A special application is required to view the disc contents. To make the data more robust, it is duplicated on spare space on the disc so retrieval is more likely if the disc is damaged. Via Pocket-lint
