Japanese company TurboLinux is ready to ship their Linux MP3 player Wizpy this month world-wide. You can already order it in Japan on Amazon.jp.
TurboLinux announced Wizpy in November of 2006.
The Linux player will let you boot Linux in its memory when connected to a PC. Besides that it is a full media player supporting OGG, MP3, WMA, AAC audio formats and DivX video formats
TurboLinux setup Wizpy Clubs to build a community around it supporting the Wizpy with new Linux based plug-ins. The club also offers online storage. The Japanese Wizpy Club seems to be up and running, the English one is still not completely life.
The Wizpy measures 84×42×12mm and weighs 50g. It features a 1.7 inch color OLED screen, FM radio, voice recorder, photo viewer and 10 hour battery life.
In Japan the Wizpy is available in 2GB and 4GB configurations. Internationally only the 4GB will ship. The price in Japan on Amazon is ~$262. The pricing outside of Japan should be similar. Wizpy comes in black and white.
