Hitachi announces (raw translation) in Japan a new kind of Direct Methanol Fuel Cell for mobile devices.

The fuel cell which uses high molecule electrolyte film which makes the methanol solution a fuel, and electricity is generated by supplying the methanol solution and air directly to the electrode.
As a result only water and carbon dioxide are generated when power is produced thus making it gentle fuel battery to the environment. Hitachi uses Nanotechnology for the electrolyte film.

Hitachi develops the fuel replenishment mechanism jointly with Toukai Ltd.

When the Methanol Fuel battery will be available is not clear. Hitachi supplied has already a cool marketing PDA Photo for starters.
