Sanyo introduces the LP-XL50 projector which is able to front project a 80 inch image from only 80mm distance.
The Sanyo LP-XL50 can be mounted on a wall to project the image downward (see photo below) or placed in front of a wall like any other projector.
The optical engine is hidden in the funny shaped case.
The resolution of the innovative projector is 1,024x786px. So Sanyo aims this projector for computer use and not for home cinema use.
Sanyo will release the LP-XL50 projector December 21st. Strange for them to announce the product this early, but they will show the short distance projector this month at the infoComm 2007 starting June 19th in Anaheim, CA.
Via this Sanyo press-release (Japanese).
