Samsung introduces a 70 inch 1080p LCD HDTV with a dynamic contrast ratio of unbelievable 500,000:1.

The Samsung LN70F91BD has LED backlight that turns off automatically in dark image areas, increasing the contrast dramatically.

"I am pleased to introduce the 70 inch full HD LCD TV with innovative Local Dimming Technology," said JongWoo Park, President of the Digital Media Business, Samsung Electronics. "Samsung will continue to strengthen its LCD TV leadership, enhancing Full-HD and large screen LCD TV line-up." The Local Dimming backlighting is an interesting method to increase contrast by leaving dark areas unlit and only light the area that show something. This technology is even cutting the power consumption by 50% compared to conventional LCD TVs.

The Samsung LN70F91BD uses LED scanning, which is eliminating the ghosting of moving images.

A glossy piano black bezel and titanium chrome trim give the new Samsung 70 inch 1080p LCD TV an elegant look. The hidden speakers and rear woofer deliver the sound to the fabulous images.

Samsung plans to ship the LN70F91BD worldwide in the 2nd half of 2007. The company did not disclose pricing yet.
