Rumors and tidbits about the exclusive Lenovo Thinkpad Reserve Edition had been circulating for a while. Now Lenovo launched a micro-site introducing the leather encased luxury notebook.
Lenovo describes the Reserve as a combination of executive-class service, exceptional performance, and unparalleled craftsmanship.
The hardware specifications are not dramatically hot. They include a 12.1 inch screen, Intel Core 2 Duo L7500 CPU, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD, Bluetooth, Wifi and a 7 hours battery life.
Some interesting features are the external Wi-Fi antenna for increased reception and the full disc encryption running on the hard-drive.
Lenovo bundles an external USB multi-burner and an external 80 GB USB hard drive to the limited edition Thinkpad Reserve Edition.
The Thinkpad Reserve comes with all kinds of services like Executive Support Staff, Personal Welcome Service and Accidental Damage Protection. The Reserve is geared towards executives.
The Reserve a great bribe for CEOs to get them switching their company notebook purchases to Lenovo. I cannot think of another reason why Lenovo would have built the Reserve.
To be able to spend the $5,000 on the Reserve you need to get invited and use the provided pass-code to enter the order page.
