It looks like Apple really made enough iPhones to satisfy the launch demand. The stock indicators for most Apple stores show a green light for today.
If you order the iPhone online you look at a 2-4 weeks delivery time. In four weeks you will not be able to call yourself an early adopter anymore. If you go today to an Apple store to get one, you still can say you are an early adopter of the iPhone.
I imagine that purchasing the iPhone today should be a rather relaxed experience. Even yesterday the lines have been worked through rather quickly after the stores opened.
