There are certainly many uses for a touchless IR thermometer like the one from ThermoHawk I reviewed before. William Joseph has a infrared thermometer they are now selling that is very inexpensive at $33.
It looks like this thermometer is a basic clone of the ThermoHawk and serves the same functions. A thermometer of this type can be of great help to a geek, especially if you are into Overclocking your PC.
You can use this thermometer to check the temperature of hot internal PC components without having to touch them. I have also used the ThermoHawk to check the temperature of my grill and once I used it to check my daughter’s temperature when she was sick. These things are really great. Via Sci Fi Tech
