Features & Specifications
LapWorks claims that the Laptop Desk 2.0 is the only lap desk product on the market that converts from a laptop tray to a desktop stand. This dual function design allows you to use the Laptop Desk 2.0 while sitting on the couch or being driven in the car. When used as a desktop stand, the Laptop Desk 2.0 raises the screen of your notebook by 3 ¼” at the highest extension level.

The surface of the Laptop Desk 2.0 has channels to help keep your notebook cool by allowing heat to dissipate via convection. Flat parts of the surface of the Laptop Desk 2.0 are covered with non-skid rubber that not only keeps your notebook from slipping off the stand, but also helps to cool it by conduction. LapWorks claims that they have proven these cooling methods to reduce notebook temperatures by 15% to 20%. Two color options are available, all black and a black and gray version.

Laptop Desk 2.0 in Use
When used in desktop mode the Laptop Desk 2.0 makes working with a notebook much more comfortable. Raising the screen by 3 ¼” doesn’t sound like much but it makes a big difference in comfort. At first when I noticed the Laptop Desk 2.0 didn’t have anything to keep the notebook on the stand other than the rubber grips I was concerned about slippage. After using the Laptop Desk 2.0 I never had any issues with my laptop slipping around on the stand.

I hate using the touchpad on notebook computers, much preferring to connect a real USB mouse. The problem with working with a notebook is that if you aren’t sitting at a desk it is nearly impossible to use an external mouse. If you unfold the Laptop Desk 2.0 you end up with a light-weight lap desk that has plenty of room for your notebook and room to spare for your mouse. The Laptop Desk 2.0 also keeps the hot laptop off your legs, keeping you cooler as well. Size wise, the Laptop Desk 2.0 should be small enough to fit into most medium sized or larger laptop bags when folded. The MSRP is only $29.95 and it is avaialble now.
