There are several different BoomChair models and the one we are looking at today is the BoomChair 2.1, which is available in both black with a red stripe and black with a blue stripe. Both color options use microsuede fabric for easy care and durability. On each side of the BoomChair 2.1 are pockets for storing the wires needed to connect to different systems and other items.

The chair is low to the ground with a 32” H x 30” L x 24” W. the back folds down for easier storage as well. This is a great video game chair. Inside the BoomChair 2.1 are 3” two-way speakers and a 4” subwoofer as well as vibration motors. On the side are the controls for adjusting volume, vibration, and bass as well as the power switch, RCA inputs for connecting to your home theater, and a headphone jack.

The RCA cables you need are included as well as a RCA to headphone jack. The RCA to headphone cable is used to connect MP3 players and portable game systems like the PSP to the chair.

BoomChair 2.1 in Use
I used the BoomChair 2.1 extensively for playing video games on the PSP and found the added immersion to be great. While playing the PSP game Burnout Dominator the vibration motors kick on when you crash into other cars or object and allow you to feel the road to some extent. The speakers do a better job than your headphones for reproducing sound, but levels of bass are weak and you won’t mistake the sound system for your home theater surround sound system.

What his chair is perfect for is a dorm room or a kid’s room and I think many users will be glad to find a place for the BoomChair 2.1 in their game rooms. The seat is comfortable for longer play sessions, though it could use a bit more padding. With the size of the chair it would also be very nice to see the manufacturer move the huge external power supply box inside the chair so you only have one small cord to deal with running to the AC outlet.
