Features & Specifications The Logitech VX Nano is a laser mouse with 800 dpi sensitivity and it is able to track accurately on any surface but clear glass and mirrored finishes. The most important feature of the Logitech VX Nano is the tiny USB Nano receiver that is a mere fraction of the size of typical notebook mouse wireless receivers. This receiver is the world’s smallest USB receiver according to Logitech and sticks out of your notebook USB port a mere 7mm when in use. Since the receiver is so small once it is plugged in you don’t have to remove it again. You can just leave the receiver plugged in and you are always ready to work with the Logitech VX Nano. The Logitech VX Nano has programmable buttons via SetPoint and you can bind keystrokes or macros to every button on the Nano except the right and left main buttons and the scroll wheel click. You can switch the right and left main buttons for left handed use since the Logitech VX Nano is an ambidextrous design. Logitech VX Nano in Use If you do want to remove the tiny USB receiver from your notebook there is a place to securely store it under the battery door on the bottom of the mouse. The free wheel scroll mode is fantastic and makes shooting through long pages a breeze. Once you fine the data you want on a long page, being able to simply click the scroll wheel and go back to click mode is very nice. The Logitech VX Nano has buttons to the left of the left main button that map to forward and back in IE and other functions in other applications. I found the positioning of these buttons to be poor. They are arranged so that you have to click them with your main mouse button finger rather than your thumb. I greatly prefer the thumb orientation layout. I suspect this was done due to the small size of the mouse, buttons on the side on a mouse this low profile would have been easy to hit accidentally. The scroll wheel can be clicked left and right for scrolling long pages and you can map those functions to other commands via the software if you desire. Connectivity is very good considering how small the mouse and the receiver are. I was able to walk down the hall and still the Logitech VX Nano functioned perfectly. Logitech says the pair of AAA batteries is good for up to six months of use, and possibly longer if you use the on/off switch on the bottom of the mouse. Naturally, if you use the mouse for eight hours a day the batteries won’t last that long.
