Other than size, both of the LapDesk’s we are looking at today have the same features. Both models of the LapDesk features Aerogel Insulation, promising to block 99.9% of heat transfer from your notebook to your lap. The W800 Aerogel Extreme Wide LapDesk is 11-inches high x 20-inches wide x 1-inch tall. The smaller G800 Aerogel Extreme is 11-inches high x 16-inches wide x 1-inch tall.

Both versions feature a transfer pocket on the back for carrying papers or CDs. Thermal channels are built into both versions t conduct heat away from your notebook and both sides of the LapDesk’s have a non-slip coating that keeps the notebook from sliding off the LapDesk and keeps the LapDesk from sliding off your lap. The larger W800 has an 8 x 10 inch mouse section. The G800 retails for $69.95 and the W800 retails for $79.95.

In Use
Both versions of the Aerogel Extreme LapDesk are thin and light weight. The longer version may not fit well in some laptop bags or backpacks. The smaller version is compact enough that putting it in a backpack should not be a problem.

The non-skid surface of the LapDesk works very well and kept my notebook from sliding around even when the desk was at an angle. The back side of the LapDesk has the same non-skid covering on the outside where your legs would be. The desk doesn’t slide around and keeps your notebook safe and secure.

Both versions of the LapDesk are ridged and the Aerogel insulation works very well. I used the LapDesk’s with several notebooks for longer than would normally be comfortable without any issues. I even used a Gateway gaming notebook in my lap for a long time and heat was not an issue. I felt none of the heat form the notebooks through the LapDesk’s.

The only heat from the LapDesk was a result of the desk itself sitting on my lap and that was no real issue. The build quality of both sizes of the LapDesk is top notch and anyone who uses a laptop on the go without a desk will want to check one of these out.
