Two USB ports are required on the notebook to provide enough power for all of the fans and the USB hub. NZXT provides two USB cables that connect to the PC. One of the cables is a normal USB cable and one of them has what looks like a DC charger on the end that plugs into the Cryo LX. The trio of 120mm fans move lots of air and should be able to cool even the hottest gaming notebooks. The tradeoff with the three large fans is that they produce noise. When in operation the fans certainly aren’t deafening, but you can hear the fans running. Noise output is about the same as the fans inside your typical PC case. The Cryo LX is a large device that is made to support large notebooks. The large size means that it's not as portable as some users will want. When folded it's about 1 6/8" thick and the 16.6" length means that you better have a big notebook bag if you expect to travel with the Cryo LX. I think the most common use for the stand will be at home with gaming notebooks or other systems. If your notebook is less than 15", you can still use the Cryo LX. I was able to sit a 12" notebook comfortably on the stand, though admittedly the Cryo LX would be overkill for such a small system. Build-quality is good and non-skid feet are used on the bottom to prevent slippage while in use. The Cryo LX raises the screen of the notebook by approximately 2-inches when in use.
