Features & Specifications In Use Software doesn't have to be installed for the mouse to operate and if you use it without software the scroll wheel click is set to scroll lock and the left side button is set to backwards on web pages. The side button is positioned well and is easy to reach. The mouse runs on a pair of AAA batteries and when folded the mouse turns off automatically to save power. Microsoft promises six months of battery life. I really like the way the transceiver stores on the Microsoft Arc mouse. There is a small cutout on the rear underside of the mouse that has a magnet built-in to hold the transceiver in place. The transceiver itself is very small at only about 3/4 of an inch making for less bulk sticking out of your USB port when you are using the mouse. Accuracy with the mouse is decent. I noticed some lag when trying to make small movements. This was particularly noticeable when trying to highlight specific text on a page for pasting. Microsoft uses a laser sensor in the mouse and doesn’t specify the sensitivity of the Arc. From using the mouse, I would say the sensitivity is about 800 dpi, normal resolution for a general use mouse.
