Features & Specifications
The Microsoft Arc uses 2.4GHz wireless technology for connectivity providing a wireless range of 30 feet. The mouse folds in the middle making it 60% of its full size for easy storage and portability. The mouse features a scroll wheel that is clickable and one additional side button. The transceiver is very small and secures to the underside of the Arc mouse by magnets when not in use. The buttons can be customized via software and the mouse can be used in the right or left hand. An LED on the mouse shows when the AAA batteries need to be replaced.

In Use
The Microsoft Arc mouse comes in either black or red colors. The most notable feature of the mouse is the folding design. By folding in the middle, the mouse provides a much smaller design for portability, yet offers the feel of a full size mouse when unfolded for use. The size of the mouse is perfect for users who like to palm the mouse or for those who use a mouse with their fingers.

Software doesn't have to be installed for the mouse to operate and if you use it without software the scroll wheel click is set to scroll lock and the left side button is set to backwards on web pages. The side button is positioned well and is easy to reach. The mouse runs on a pair of AAA batteries and when folded the mouse turns off automatically to save power. Microsoft promises six months of battery life.

I really like the way the transceiver stores on the Microsoft Arc mouse. There is a small cutout on the rear underside of the mouse that has a magnet built-in to hold the transceiver in place. The transceiver itself is very small at only about 3/4 of an inch making for less bulk sticking out of your USB port when you are using the mouse.

Accuracy with the mouse is decent. I noticed some lag when trying to make small movements. This was particularly noticeable when trying to highlight specific text on a page for pasting. Microsoft uses a laser sensor in the mouse and doesn’t specify the sensitivity of the Arc. From using the mouse, I would say the sensitivity is about 800 dpi, normal resolution for a general use mouse.
