Features and Game Play
The game is available for the PS3, PC, and the Xbox; I am reviewing the PS3 version of the game. The game opens on the eve of the Cuban revolution as the Don of the players family is killed trying to make it to the airport and the safety of America. In the second Godfather game the player is a Don, gets to pick his family, and made men.

The men you pick each have their own talents like soldiers, arsonists, medics, and safe crackers. You will need different specialties to complete some missions. For instance the safe cracker can unlock the safes in the buildings around the environment. The goal of the game is to reestablish your family's holdings in New York and to venture into Miami and establish the family there.

As the game progresses you can invest in your made men to upgrade their skills making them more effective in fights. The goal in each area is to take over crime rings like prostitution and racketeering. Each full crime ring you own allows you to make more money and allows you to get a bonus like armored cars or bulletproof vests. However, losing one of the businesses in a crime ring removes that bonus.

Once you take over a business you can add guards to keep it yours and finding a business owner's weak spot will get you a 25% income bonus. The player can put out hits on made men from other families to take them out and weaken the family. Made men can attack the players businesses and defend the families business when attacked.

During the game you can come across corrupt officials that will get your favors that help you out of tight spots. You can also do favors for other characters in the game world to upgrade your made men. Weapons can be upgraded and each of the weapons has two unique executions. The game is rated M for mature.

Graphics
The PS3 version of the game has great graphics with realistic looking animated characters and environments. You can have more than one made man with you at a time, but if you steal a ride with only two seats some of your men will be left out. As you venture around the city you can hire new men with different specialties.

If you have played Grand Theft auto before, you know what the game play is like. You go on various missions to take over businesses or destroy rival families. As you go through the city there are bystanders that you can beat, kill, run over and other wise maim. The more damage you do in the game world, the more the police will look for you. In addition to taking over business, you can also bomb rival businesses to weaken the family, options like this make for more fun than simply shooting everyone.

If you steal a car and some one sees you, you can try to bribe the person to keep their mouth shut or simply kill the witness. The cops will chase you and shoot at you as well as rival family members if you get too close to their turf. The controls are easy to use and accurate in the game. If you liked the original Godfather game, Godfather II will be a game you want to check out.
