Features & Specifications
The Oakley Jawbone sunglasses use Oakley High Definition Optics. The Jawbone takes the optics a step further than other Oakley designs with a pivoting frame that allows the lenses to be easily replaced called Switchlock. Other features of the glasses include Unobtainium stem sleeves for a secure fit that offers better grip with perspiration. The lenses used on the glasses are also coated with Oakley Hydrophobic lens coating that is permanent, repels dust, and prevents smudges. The lenses also filter 100% of the UVA, UVB, UVC, and blue light up to 400nm. The glasses also ship with a hard-sided case and a soft case.

In Use
The Oakley Jawbone are available in several color combinations including matte black with black vented iridium lenses, pearl and persimmon (purple) with vented iridium lenses, atomic orange with fire iridium vented lenses, and retina burn with black iridium lenses. My review set was the aptly named retina burn color.

Oakley chose the name for this hue well. Retina burn is a day glow green color coupled with black that is exceptionally bright; you won’t blend in wearing these shades. The color is cool looking, but wearers not into flashy colors may want to go with simple black.

I quickly forgot how bright the frames of the Jawbone glasses were when I put them on. These are hands down the most comfortable sunglasses I have ever worn. They only touch your face in three points -- at the nose and over both ears. The frames are flexible enough for a comfortable fit but grip well enough over the ears that no matter what you are doing they don’t slip around.

I have had problems with glasses before fogging up on me when they wrap around my eyes as much as the Jawbone's do. The jagged lens vents on the top and bottom of the corner of the lenses prevents any fogging from happening. The vents are small enough that they don’t let light in.

One of the coolest features of the Oakley Jawbone sunglasses is the hinged design of the frames that make changing the lenses very easy to do. To swap from the tinted lenses to the yellow safety lenses of the Jawbone's all you need to do is flip up the nose pieces and the bottom of the hinged frames swing away and the lenses slide out of their groves. Reversing the procedure has your lenses swapped in under a minute. The Oakley Jawbone aren’t cheap at $195 to $205, but they are comfortable and look cool.
