Features & Specifications
The Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000 uses Microsoft BlueTrack laser technology and has a tiny Nano transceiver that doesn't need to be unplugged form the notebook when on the go. The mouse uses 2.4GHz wireless technology with a 30-foot range. An on/off switch helps maximize battery life and the mouse has five programmable buttons.

In Use
The Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000 and the Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 5000 are similar products. The Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000 is a smaller mouse that is more sculpted to fit into the palm of your hand. The biggest difference between the two mice is that the Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000 has the tiny Nano receiver. Whereas the typical USB transceiver on a wireless mouse is an inch or more long the Nano transceiver the 6000 uses sticks out of the computer USB port less than a quarter of an inch.

That means that you don’t even need to unplug the transceiver to pack your computer up and take it on the road and you don’t; have to fear the transceiver will get broken in transit. When you do want to unplug the transceiver, the mouse has a spot to store it on the bottom.

Like most of the other BlueTrack mice that I have reviewed, the Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000 had very good tracking on all surfaces I used it on. I used the mouse on the floor, desktop, couch arm, floor, carpet, and countertop; the mouse tracked well in all instances and had good accuracy as well. Microsoft doesn't typically tell what sensitivity levels their mice use, and the Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000 is no different. I would say that the mouse has about 800 dpi of sensitivity.

That level of sensitivity is plenty for smaller screens like notebooks and netbooks, but on larger desktop screens, you may wish for more sensitivity. I can't test the battery life, but Microsoft claims that the battery is good for 10 months of use. That will depend on home much you use the mouse though.

The using the software included with the mouse you can program five of the mouse buttons to do whatever you want them to. The scroll wheel supports 4-way scrolling as well. The mouse also has rubber side grips and a magnifier built-in.
