Features and Specifications
The Speakal iPig is a 2.1 dock station that has a pair of tweeters for eyes and a subwoofer under the pig. Under each ear are a single smaller speaker for a total of five speakers. It is compatible with all iPods that are dockable, including the iPod touch and iPhone. On the rear of the iPig is a 3.5mm input that will allow the dock to function with other MP3 players and input sources like a PC. The included remote will work iPod functions. The ears of the pig are touch sensitive for volume control and when the dock is on the mouth of the pig glows green. Bass and treble are separately adjustable.

In Use
When I first saw the iPig, I thought it was a kid's device that would be more cutesy than usable. I was so wrong. After plugging, the device in I sat the iPod touch on the dock and was able to control the functions of the iPod with the remote easily.

The sound quality from the iPig is fantastic. The dock has a full-bodied sound and the deep bass was very impressive. Mid and high range sounds were well rounded and full as well. The quality sound output is helped by the fact that the Speakal iPig has five total speakers with 15W of power going to the sub alone. The pig is shaped so that you can get a 360-degree sound envelope. That helps to reduce dead spots and widen the sweet spot for room filling sound.

The dock also includes multiple cradles for different iPod models. My review unit was white, but the Speakal iPig can be had in pink, yellow, and black colors as well. Don’t let the cutesy looks fool you, the Speakal iPig is a fantastic speaker dock.
