Specifications
The Logitech G9x has a tracking resolution of 200 to 5000 dpi max. The device has an image processing resolution of 9 megapixels per second and can withstand 30G of acceleration. The maximum speed the mouse can move and still track is 150 inches per second. The mouse also features weight tuning and interchangeable covers. The buttons are good for 8 million clicks and the feet will last 250 km.

In Use
If you set the Logitech G9x and the original G9 side by side the only tip off that the two mice are different is the little red "x" in the Logitech G9x name printed on the cover. The two mice look the same and sport the same features. The only real difference between the two mice is that the Logitech G9x goes up to 5000 dpi sensitivity.

That is certainly a lot of sensitivity in a mouse and some gamers may find it to be too much. If you game on a large LCD of 24 or 30-inches in size the added increase in sensitivity. I like high sensitivity mice on large LCDs like the 30-inch I work and play on. The mouse takes less wrist movement to move the cursor around screen and it allows the gamer to run and move faster.

The high sensitivity does take some getting used to. At first, you may end up moving from one side of the screen to the other quickly and without much control until you learn that you need to make much smaller hand movements.

The Logitech G9x has the removable grips that the G9 featured and the grips are interchangeable. That means if you have custom grips you can continue to use them. Under the grip is the slide out weight cartridge where you can customize the feel of the mouse by installing weights to get the perfect feel for you.

The bottom of the mouse has a button for changing profiles and a button that changes the scroll wheel between click and free wheel mode. At first glance having to pick up the mouse to change scroll wheel modes seems like a pain. Once you realize that having a button on the bottom to change modes means that the scroll wheel is clickable the extra effort to change modes is worth it. The LEDs on the mouse can be color matched to the colors of your gaming machine as well. It's very hard to find any fault with the Logitech G9x and the only bad thing you can really say about the mouse is that it is expensive at about $100.
