Features & Specifications
The Logitech Flight System G940 uses I-Force force feedback technology from Immersion Corp. The joystick features precision force feedback and has a 2-stage metal trigger. The stick also features a POV control, 8-way hat, six programmable buttons, a pinkie shift button, and three analog trim controls. The X&Y sensors are contactless and the stick has a rubber base with points for mounting it to a desktop or other flat surface.

The dual throttle has a split design that can operate twin engines independently or be locked together. The throttle also features four programmable buttons on the grip, two rotary analog controls, eight programmable buttons on the base with interactive LED backlighting and changeable legends. A three-position mode switch is featured and the throttle has a rubber base with mounting points.

The rudder pedals has stainless steel treads, toe brakes, adjustable resistance control, retractable carpet lock and rubber feet with mounting points. All of the buttons on the three pieces are programmable and the cables are 8-feet long.

In Use
You have to wade through a long feature list for the Logitech Flight System G940 before you get to the part of the review where I play with the controller. The Logitech Flight System G940 is very impressive and looks fantastic sitting on your desk. I fired up one of my old favorite games, IL-2 Sturmovik to test out the Logitech Flight System G940. The force feedback effects are fantastic and they add greatly to the realism in game.

If you stall you can feel the plane buffet and when you pull G's on high-speed turns; you can feel them as well. The rudder pedals are large and feel perfect when you are taxing and using the toe brakes. The throttle has good resistance and a number of buttons on the bottom that you can map to specific commands for your flight. The coolest part about these buttons is that they change color to show you what state they are in. The buttons can be green, yellow, or red. That way you can just glance at the buttons and tell if the gear is up, down, or damaged.

The Logitech Flight System G940 is very well built and the joystick and throttle are rather heavy. This is a good thing when you are banking hard trying to get on that Zero's tail. I noticed a few times that with fast maneuvers the controllers would slide around on my slick desktop. You can mount the controllers to a desk or a board with integrated mountain holes. That said, at the $299.99 selling price I would have figured Logitech would include some suction cups to hold the throttle and joystick still during spirited use.

The force feedback effects are supported with Microsoft Flight Simulator X, IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946, Falcon: Allied Force, Lock On: Modern Air Combat X-Plane 9, Enemy Engaged 2, and DCS: Black Shark. You can use the controller system with other flight game; I used it for HAWX and found it worked great. You just don’t get the benefit of force feedback. If you are a flight simulator fan, there is no other flight system to own but the Logitech Flight System G940.
