Features & Specifications
The Logitech G27 Racing Wheel has two force feedback motors for strong effects. The wheel is wrapped in real leather and has stainless steel spokes and shifter paddles. On top of the wheel is a rev meter and the wheel has four buttons on each spoke. The shifter is gated and has a D-pad and four other buttons that can be mapped to game controls. The pedals are stainless and have a clutch, brake, and gas pedal.

In Use
The Logitech G27 Racing Wheel is everything I loved about the G25 and more. The wheel smells like real leather, because it is real leather. Everything about the wheel is real down to the stainless steel used in the wheel spokes. There is nothing cheap or imitation about the Logitech G27 Racing Wheel. The wheel looks virtually identical to the G25 with the exception of the shift light on top of the wheel that shows when nearing redline in compatible games.

The G27 wheel also has three buttons on each spoke that can be mapped to things as you see fit on the PC and on some PS3 games. The wheel has two clamps on it that screw down and can secure it to a desktop or the coffee table in the living room. The clamps are too short to fit any table that is thick. When I tested the wheel in the living room, I had to force it onto my coffee table because the clamps wouldn't open enough to get it to go on easily. The good news is once you get the wheel on the surface you are securing it too and clamp it down, the thing doesn't move.

I raced and traded paint on Need for Speed Shift and never once did the wheel slip or slide around on the table. This is a big deal when you consider how powerful the force feedback the G27 offers is. Other than the wheel, the shifter is almost identical to the one the G25 uses. It is gated and has a six-speed shift pattern. The shift action is firm and the springs for centering the shifter back in the middle of the shift pattern when released are strong. This helps to be sure you find a neutral position if you need to.

The shifter has two clamps in the front to hold it down and a larger screw in the middle. I found that the clamps for the shifter were not as strong as the clamps on the wheel. The shifter did move around easily, which is a big issue when shifting hard. The pedals are large and again identical to the ones the G25 uses. A large carpet tack strip can be locked in place for use on carpet. The tack strip grips well and I had no issues with the pedals moving during testing.

The one thing that I did notice a difference on with the G27 compared to the G25 was the force feedback effects. The wheel definitely has more feel on the G27 than the G25 does. The G27 is also noticeably quieter than the G25. With the G25, there was always a grating whine when turning the wheel. The G27 is silky smooth and very quiet. This is important if you are trying to race late at night with someone sleeping in the same room or up the hall.

The Logitech G27 Racing Wheel is certainly top notch when it comes to force feedback effects and you can feel every ripple in the pavement, every bump on the road and every slip of the tire. Serious racing sim fans will love this fantastic racing wheel. I'm not convinced the G27 is enough better than the G25 for those that already own the G25 to upgrade, but new shoppers will love the Logitech G27 Racing Wheel. The Logitech G27 Racing Wheel retails for $299.99 and can be preordered now.
