The JVC HA-S650 have a frequency response from 8Hz to 26,000Hz. The sensitivity is 112dB/1mW and the drivers are 36mm units. The cord is 3.9 feet and the weight of the headphones without the cable is 3.63 ounces. The plug is a 3.5mm unit that works with the iPhone.

In Use
The JVC HA-S650 is a larger set of headphones that I am used to reviewing. Most of the time fans of the iPhone or other music phones and PMPs opt for small and lightweight in-ear style headphones. For some users the improved sound quality from set of earphones with larger drivers is a good trade off for the additional bulk.

The JVC HA-S650 are an on-ear set of headphones that are small and comfortable to wear. The headband is adjustable and the ear cups are well padded with memory foam and fold flat. The flat folding design is important if you want to listen with one ear uncovered so you can hear what is going on around you and the design makes transport easier.

The headphones have a very short cable of only about four feet long. That means that you can connect the headphones only to things that are close to you. No extension cord is included with the headphones. I wanted to try the headphones for watching movies and playing games on my desktop, but the short cable prevented me from doing that. If you will use them with a notebook or your PMP, the cable length won’t be that big of an issue.

The sound quality is fantastic. The headphones have awesome bass that is much better than most in-ear earphones I have tested. The bas sis deep and sounds great. The headphones also offer good mid and high range sounds for a very well balanced sound quality that works for bass heavy tracks and those that focus more on vocals.

I tested the headphones with my iPhone and the plug fit without any issues with my iPhone 3GS. The plug is also skinny enough to fit earlier iPhone models with the recessed headphone plug. The headband is durable with stainless steel construction so the headphones should last for a long time.
