Saturday Night Live Opening Shot in 1080p With Canon Eos Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

When you're a camera company, it's easy to get free publicity. Every time a professional uses your product to do something cool, boom! You get what amounts to a free celebrity endorsement. Take this latest Canon press release. Apparently the opening to this new season of Saturday Night Life was shot entirely in 1080p video. In order to attract less attention and shoot in tight areas, the Canon Eos 5D Mark II and Eos 7D Digital SLR cameras were used.

The intro features a variety of shots from around the city of New York. The director didn't want to have to set up a large shoot and disrupt the reality of any of these shots. By using these portable Canon cameras, they were able to get 1080p footage without having to be too disruptive. This is just another piece of evidence for how incredible portable video shooting technology has gotten these days.

Quote from the review: "Today we get a close up look at the brite-View CinemaTube 1080p HD Media Player. On the surface we thought we might be in for a treat. What type of treat, you say? Well, something different than the usual run-of-the-mill HD media players we’ve been looking at this year. And by different, we mean a player with a unique controller, interface and feel. Toshiba T100 Series: 1080p+ULV Processor Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

October 22nd is already set to be one of the best PC shopping days in recent memory. With the launch of Windows 7 will come a flurry of new notebooks, netbooks, nettops, and desktop computers. If you're planning to buy a new PC, that will be the day to do it, especially now that the first two models of the Toshiba T100 series of ULV notebooks are set to hit on the 22nd. (Thanks, Gizmodo!)

So far, two sizes have been revealed; the 11.6" T115 and the 13.3" T135. Aside from the screen size, both machines appear to be identical now; they can both manage 1080p out, both have ULV chips, and rock Win 7 Premium. The 115 is rated for 9 hours, and the 135 for 7.5. To see a review of the 135, you can check out Laptop Magazine.

Telcast T56: A 1080p Media Player

Topic:

Telcast T56: A 1080p Media Player Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

Finding a personal media player that can output full 1080p HD is about as easy as finding a portable keyboard that doesn't suck. If Engadget is right, Telcast, a Chinese firm, may be one of the first. Their T56 PMP has a nice, big 5" screen, 1080p output from an HDMI port, and an 800 x 600 resolution.

We don't know this thing's hardware specs, or how much space it will pack. It will include a GPS and an FM tuner, as well as an SD slot and a unibody-style all-metal stamped body. This thing looks as tough as a rock.

Topic:

Pioneer KURO 60-inch 1080p Plasma HDTV is I4U Top 100 Gift Tip #87 Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Home theater enthusiasts looking for a big picture and HD resolution have several ways they can go. You can opt for a LCD HDTV, plasma HDTV or a projector. The Projector route usually requires more space and bother than many are willing to go through leaving plasma and LCD HDTVs.

There are more LCD TVs on the market currently than there are plasma's making the LCD the more popular item. However many feel that you get better image quality from a plasma TV than you get from an LCD TV. I have found plasma's typically offer brighter picture, deeper blacks and just look better overall than LCD TVs in similar price ranges. Read more
