Sony puts a $50 premium on the 250GB PS3 Slim compared to the 120GB Sony PS3 Slim console, which sounds fair. Read more

It was clear that a 250GB Sony PS3 Slim is coming in time for the Holiday shopping season to match the 250GB Xbox 360. Unlike in Europe, Sony is offering the 250GB Sony PS3 Slim outside of a bundle, you can just get the 250GB PS3 straight up, which I prefer anyway.

Toshiba announced its latest 1.8-inch HDD called the MK2529GSG that has 250GB of storage space. The small HDDs are intended to be used in consumer electronics and PCs. Performance from the drives should be decent with a 5400-rpm rotation speed.

The drive uses the SATA 3 GB/s interface and features a free fall sensor to enhance shock protection. The areal density for the drive is 378.8 GB/in. Power consumption is low at 0.0016 watts-per-GB. Read more

We picked the new Archos 5 with the gigantic 250GB hard-drive as one of our Top 100 Holiday Gift Tips of 2008. Why? Show me another portable media player with 250GB storage. Apple is not offering an iPod with that kind of capacity, Sandisk and Microsoft also fail to offer 250GB in a player. Archos goes even bigger on the Archos 7 with 320GB, but a 7 inch PMP is already very big for a portable without having to use a bag. Read more

Fujitsu Offers 250GB 2.5-inch SATA Drive with Continuous Operation

Most hard drives in typical desktop and notebook computers don’t operate continuously 24-hours per day around the clock. Even if you leave your computer on all the time for the majority of that time it is sitting idle and the disk isn’t being accessed.

In an enterprise environment servers run continuously and often the times of highest disk usage are late at night when most people are not using the network. Fujitsu announced two new 2.5-inch HDD series’ today aimed at continuous use environments called the Fujitsu 2.5" MHZ2-BK 7200 RPM and the 2.5" MHZ2-BS 5400 RPM SATA series. Both lines offer capacities up to 250 GB and are rated for 24-hour continuous use with availability in July 2008. Read more
