iPhone 2009 rumored to have 3.2MP Camera

A new rumor claims that the new iPhone 2009 will get a 3.2MP Camera.
The rumor stems from Digitimes, which claims in the same report that Apple has ordered 5MP camera modules for another Apple device to be introduced later this year.

We already featured a rumor that the new iPhone 2009 will get a video camera capability. Of course more resolution than the current outdated 2MP camera is something to expect Apple to put in the new iPhone. Read more

Broadcom demos Android Phone with 12MP Camera App

Broadcom announced today that it would be demonstrating a complete mobile phone reference design at MWC 2009 that uses the Google Android operating system. The reference design has some impressive features like 720p HD camcorder, HDMI output, and up to 12MP camera resolutions.

The reference design can support all popular multimedia formats and can play any video on the phone despite the source resolution of the device. The device also uses Broadcom's BCM2153 HEDGE 3G multimedia processor, the BCM2727 mobile multimedia processor, BCM4325 Bluetooth/Wi-Fi combo chip, BCM4750 AGPS receiver, the BCM2940 mobile TV receiver, and the BCM59035 power management unit. I am actually not sure who would buy that replacement part. It sells for $29.99 on several stores. Replacement requires some technical skills and if you under warranty you should not open your iPhone anyway. Read more

Sharp tiny 2MP Camera Module

Sharp introduces the industry's thinnest 2MP CMOS camera module.

The 5mm thin 2MP camera module is aimed at mobile phones. The module has auto focus and can process 15fps UXGA resolution video.
Overall measurements of the camera module are 8.5×8.5×5mm.
A phone with this 2MP camera module would still be at least 7mm thick. So that module is not really helping in getting really thin (<5mm) phones. Read more

I4U's review partner Digital Trends published a review of the Pentax K10D 10.2MP DSLR camera.

"This is a much-anticipated digital SLR. Not only does this new Pentax have a 10.2-megapixel CCD, it also has built-in Shake Reduction and a cleaning system to keep dust off the imaging device (and your prints). It’s also built to take a bit of beating since it’s weather resistant and has tight seals to keep dust out of the body. Not only that, it costs less than $1,000 with a lens, a very reasonable price but above the Sony alpha which has similar features (10MP CCD, image stabilization) but not nearly as rugged a body.
