The new world's fastest graphics card is the new AMD ATI HD 4870 X2 as of today. Hothardware takes a closer look at the new HD 4870 X2.
Quote: "The Radeon HD 4800 series didn't exactly overwhelm NVIDIA's GTX 200 series with raw performance. In fact, the GeForce GTX 280 and 9800 GX2 were more powerful than the Radeon HD 4870. The Radeon HD 4800 series cards, however, were still excellent cards and they were offered at extremely competitive prices, which put significant pressure on NVIDA. At the time of their launch, the Radeon HD 4850 and Radeon HD 4870 were both less expensive and more powerful than the GeForce 9800 GTX and GeForce GTX 260, respectively. AMD today announced the world’s fastest graphics card, the ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2.
The HD 4870 X2 is delivering 2.4 teraFLOPS of processing power. Also announced today is the ATI Radeon HD 4850 X2 graphics card, delivering good performance at a compelling price point.
The ATI Radeon HD 4800 X2 series are combining two ATI Radeon HD 4800 series GPUs with a more advanced cross-GPU connection based on the PCIe 2.0 standard, plus 2GB of memory, which is the most in any currently available consumer graphics card.

AMD ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 coming in August
AMD just released the HD 4850 and HD 4870 video cards, reports appear that the ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 will be ready in August.
AMD will begin shipping reference design boards with 2GB GDDR5 memory at the end of the month reports Digitimes based on industry sources.
