LightScribe media allows compatible DVD burners to burn a label directly onto the disk. 8x is currently the fastest DVD+R DL speed available.

The media has about twice as much storage capacity as a normal DVD with the ability to hold 8.5GB of data. The Verbatim media will be available in 10-disc spindles at unannounced pricing. LightScribe media tends to cost a bit more than normal DVDs, but they shouldn’t be particularly expensive. Read more

Nintendo just last week announced a new Nintendo DS dubbed Nintendo DSi, which will be released on November 1st. The new Sony PSP-3000 will launch in two weeks in Japan and might propel the PSP ahead of the Nintendo DS for October. Read more

Palin, the Republican governor of Alaska, and Biden, the Democratic senator from Delaware, also drew the biggest audience of any nationally televised political debate in 16 years, going back to a matchup among then-President George H.W. Bush, Democrat Bill Clinton and independent Ross Perot, according to ratings issued on Friday.

The three-way debate in October 1992, like the Palin-Biden contest on Thursday, pulled in 69.9 million viewers, Nielsen Media Research said.

The Xbox support page calls the issues intermittent. Update: Looks like the issue just got more severe as Microsoft updated the support page with: "Users will not be able to connect or log into Xbox LIVE. We are aware of the problem and working to resolve the issue." Update: Xbox LIVE supposedly up again, but still some issues might still occur.

We see quite some hits on our Xbox Live Down stories indicating that currently lots of Xbox users cannot connect to Xbox Live. Read more
