Acer Adds Business & Value Series LCDs
Acer announced two new families of LCDs recently called the Business Series and the Value series. The B-series displays range in size from 17 to 24-inch and include several models. All B-series displays have black bezels and a black base. The B-series also uses Acer’s FlxArm technology for height adjustment, tilt and swivel as well as rotation. B-series interface options include VGA and DVI with HDCP support.
The B-series displays have 5ms response times and 2000:1 to 3000:1 dynamic contrast ratios. It seems that other than the FlxArm technology the two series of displays are very similar. The displays are available now at dealers across America. Read more

Glu Mobile Launches Speed Racer Game
Games on cell phones are becoming more and more popular and game developers are starting to put out more games for mobile devices. Glu Mobile announced that it is offering a Speed Racer game for mobile phone users to go along with the soon to be released film.
The game allows players to drive the Mach 6 to become the ultimate Grand Prix champion. Gameplay has drivers drifting, sliding, and driving defensively on extreme tracks against other drivers and avoiding obstacles. Read more

Wii Too: Conspiracy Entertainment Announces Cocoto Kart Racer for Wii
With the big expectations for the Mario Kart game on the Wii console it’s no surprise that other Kart racing games are coming to the Wii. Conspiracy Entertainment announced today that it would bring Cocoto Kart Racer to the Wii.
The premise of the game is that the holy cauldron of Cocoto has disappeared and the only way to get it back is to win a series of Kart races against other opponents with the winner getting the cauldron. Players can choose from 12 different characters, 12 different karts and play different modes including Championship, Time Challenge or Multiplayer. Read more

The Acer Asus Eee 900 PC Competitor said to have lower Price
Nothing is really known about Acer's entry into low-cost Linux running notebooks, only that the company will release an Asus Eee PC 900 alternative soon.
Asus unveiled the 2nd generation Asus Eee PC 900 at the CeBit 2008. The highlight is the new larger 8.9 inch screen with higher resolution. Asus is supposed to release the Eee PC 900 in April.

Crucial Launches Special Edition Red Ballistix Tracer RAM
Crucial announced today a special version of its Ballistic Tracer RAM in a new red color. The RAM comes in DDR2-800 modules and can be had in a 2GB or 4GB kit. The modules include two rows of red activity LEDs, red ground-effects LEDs and a red printed circuit board.

Acer Introduces Budget Extensa Business Notebooks
Acer announced a new line of notebook computers today called Extensa. The Extensa 4620 notebook is now available in North America and is aimed at business users. The Extensa uses the same chassis as the TravelMate notebooks.
The screen size is 14.1-inches and the system runs on Windows XP Pro, but is Vista capable. Available processors include Intel Centrino duo or Pentium dual-core components and hard drive capacities of up to 120GB are available. Read more

Acer Announces P series LCD Displays
Acer announced a new P series of LCD displays today that includes a 19”, 20”, 22”, and 24” models. All of the displays share the same glossy piano black bezel with curved edges and a silver base. Some models have HDMI inputs, while others feature DVI only.
The entire P series displays are Windows Vista certified. The 19-inch P191Wd model has a 1440 x 900 native resolution, 300 CD/m2 brightness, 2000:1 contrast ratio, 5ms response time, and VGA along with DVI HDCP inputs. The 20-inch P201Wd model has a 1680 x 1050 resolution, with 300CD/m2 brightness, 2500:1 contrast ratio, 5ms response time, VGA and DVI HDCP inputs. Read more

Acer buys Gateway for $710 Million
Acer agreed to buy Gateway for $710 million. The combined company will be the 3rd largest PC maker in the world.
Under the terms of the agreement, Acer will commence a cash tender offer to purchase all the outstanding shares of Gateway for $1.90 per share, which represents total equity value consideration of approximately $710 million.

Acer Boss comes down hard on Microsoft over Windows Vista
Gianfranco Lanci, President of PC manufacturer Acer criticizes Microsoft over Vista in an interview with the Financial Times Germany.
Mr. Lanci says that the whole industry is disappointed of Windows Vista. Microsoft made mistakes and that never before a new Microsoft OS did so little for PC and notebook sales.
The Acer boss is also pessimistic for the rest of the year.
Acer is the number four PC maker behind HP, Dell and Lenovo.

Acer Launches New Aspire 5920 Notebook PC
Acer is announcing a new multimedia notebook pc today called the Acer Aspire 5920. The new notebook uses Acer’s Gemstone design and used the latest Intel Centrino technology.
The 5920 has a Centrino has Core 2 Duo processor and is based on the new Centrino platform codenamed Santa Rosa. The notebook also integrates more codename tech (Robson) from Intel called TurboMemory, which uses flash memory to increase system responsiveness. Read more

Acer Gemstone
Acer revealed a new notebook design dubbed Gemstone for its Acer Aspire notebook line.
The Acer Gemstone design features rounded, opalesque contours and a white ceramiFinish keyboard accented with sapphire blue special keys.
Overall the design of the new Acer notebooks looks great, but looks are not everything. Acer is still holding back on the specifications of their new line of notebooks.
